Steve Bennett, age 91, of Kearney, died Sunday, July 25, 2010 at the St. John’s Good Samaritan Center in Kearney. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney with Rev. Bonnie Brock officiating. Burial will be later in Ovid, Colorado. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Memorials are suggested to the St. John’s Good Samaritan Center in Kearney. A message of condolence, tribute or memory can be left at www.hlmkfuneral.com. Steve was born December 15, 1918 in Creighton, Nebraska to Ralph and Maude (Smith) Bennett. He moved with his family to Colorado and attended school in Julesburg. After school he moved to Wichita, Kansas. There he worked as a commercial pilot. He also ran a taxi service and played in a country western band. In 1992 he retired and moved to Kearney. He married Margaret Stevens on September 24, 1994 at the Methodist Church in Amherst. Steve enjoyed playing music and dancing. He was a past member of the Kearney Eagles Club.
