Elizabeth M. Plante, age 96, of Kearney, died Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the St. John’s Good Samaritan Center in Kearney. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, August 30, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. James Catholic Church with Father Josh Brown officiating. Burial will be at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Pleasanton. Visitation will be Sunday, August 29^th from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney and one hour prior to the service at the Church on Monday. A Christian wake service will be Sunday, August 29, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the St. James Catholic Church in Kearney. Memorials are designated to St. Mary’s Cemetery fund in Pleasanton or the Catholic Daughters. A message of condolence, tribute or memory can be left at www.hlmkfuneral.com. Horner-Lieske-McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.

 

Elizabeth was born August 25, 1914 in Pleasanton to Joseph R. and Rosa (Kirschner) Nickman. She attended school in Pleasanton. She married Eugene Plante on April 20, 1938 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pleasanton. They lived on the family farm near Pleasanton. Eugene passed away in 1975. Elizabeth moved to Kearney in 1977. Elizabeth was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, President St. Mary’s Altar Society, 4-H leader for 15years, President of the Rusco Extension Club, D.C.C.W., and Red Cross Volunteer with the Bloodmobile, Kearney Hospital Auxiliary, and the Kearney Election Board. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting, playing cards, and going to the Senior Center in Kearney.
