Donald L. "Don" Corneer

Donald L. “Don” Corneer, 90, of Kearney died Wednesday, October 13, 2021 in Kearney. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, October 19, 2021 at the Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dr. Rick and Rev. Dr. Michelle Carlson officiating. Private family burial will take place at Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery in Omaha. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, October 18, 2021 at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated later. Don was born September 24, 1931 in Omaha, Nebraska to Rudolph and Doris (Witte) Corneer. He graduated from Omaha South High School in 1949. Don joined the Marines in 1951 and served for two years. Don married Rose Van Severen on June 5, 1954 in Omaha. They lived in Omaha until moving to Kearney in 1966. Don worked for Producers Livestock for 45 years. He operated the west sale barn in Kearney and then worked as a cattle buyer. Don enjoyed playing golf, cards, fishing and hunting, watching Kansas City Royals baseball, and spending time with his family and friends. Don is survived by his wife Rose Corneer of Kearney; son, Gary and Dianne Corneer of Livingston, MT; granddaughter, Elizabeth and Tyler Siegmund of Fort Collins, CO; and great-granddaughter, Ava Siegmund of Fort Collins, CO. Don was preceded in death by his infant daughter Tari Lynn Corneer, and his beloved Chesapeake Bay retriever Coco.
