    Emily "Jean" Reidy

    October 11, 1930 - June 19, 2022

    Emily “Jean” Reidy, 91, of Kearney, died June 19, 2022 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney. Father Art Faesser will celebrate and burial will be at Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. followed by a wake service at 7:00 p.m. all at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Kearney Catholic High School Foundation or St. James Catholic Church. Please visit www.hlmkfuneral.com to leave a tribute or message of condolence. Horner Lieske McBride and Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney are in charge of arrangements. Jean was born on October 11, 1930 to Edward R. and Martha (Geck) Jarecke. She attended school in St. Paul and would later graduate in 1949. After high school, she attended the Colorado Women’s College in Denver. She married Thomas E. Reidy on September 26, 1953 in St. Paul. Jean and Tom moved to Kearney in 1955 when Tom took a job with the Martin Lumber Company. Jean was an active member of the church serving as a volunteer for numerous activities throughout the years and also as a member of the Catholic Daughters. She took great pride in her garden and flowers and will be fondly remembered as an excellent cook and baker. Jean especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren. Surviving relatives include her sons, Patrick Reidy of St. Louis, MO, Steve Reidy and his wife Kim, Greg Reidy and his wife Renae and Robert Reidy and his wife Deanna all of Kearney; grandchildren, Jett Reidy and his wife Cindy, Stevie Reidy, K.C. Reidy, Jace Reidy, Shauna Reinsch and her husband Mannie, Brian Reidy and his wife Lindsey, Brad Reidy and his wife Anna, Brittany Reidy, Kaylei Margheim and her husband Zach, Stacie Gant and her husband Brandon; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great, great granddaughter; brothers, Jack and Sharon Jarecke of Grand Island, NE Jerry and Mary Jarecke of Lincoln, NE, Tom and Zola Jarecke of Columbus, NE, Bob and Bonnie Jarecke of Alexandria, VA and Dave and Pat Jarecke of Idaho; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; sons, Michael and Shawn Reidy; daughter in law, Pam Reidy; grandson, Brandon Reidy; granddaughter, Shelby Reidy;
