    Kathleen "Kathy" A. Steinhauser

    June 14, 1951 - September 24, 2020

    Kathleen “Kathy” A. Steinhauser, 69, of Kearney, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2020 at her home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., September 29, 2020 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with Pastor John Rasmussen officiating. Burial will follow the service at Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, September 28, 2020 at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. Masks are recommended for those that will be attending the visitation and the funeral. Funeral service will be livestreamed on the holycrosskearney youtube channel. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association. Kathy was born June 14, 1951 in Burwell, Nebraska to Harold and Margaret (Boro) Klinginsmith. She graduated from Kearney Catholic High School in 1969. Kathy married Dan Steinhauser on June 7, 1969 in Kearney. They lived in Riverdale for 39 years where they raised three children. They moved to Kearney in 2011. Kathy worked at Amherst Irrigation, the Riverdale Elevator, and C.V.I. in Kearney for 26 years. Kathy loves Christmas keeping touches of it visible in her home year-round, cooking large holiday meals, spending time with friends and family, and making friends everywhere she went with her uncanny ability to remember everyone. She enjoys attending Kearney Community Theatre and her grandchildren’s events, binge watching HGTV, playing pitch and pinochle occasionally letting Dan win a hand, camping, and seemingly had the largest collection of tea pots in Nebraska. Kathy is survived by her husband Dan of Kearney; daughters, Laurie and Doug Lee Sr. of Minden, NE, Dr. Shannon Steinhauser and Dr. Arthur Epstein of Phoenix, AZ; son, Dr. Justin and Nicole Steinhauser of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren Doug Lee Jr. and wife Kylie, Zac Lee, Joe Lee, Bella Steinhauser, Natalie Steinhauser; great grandson Jaxon Lee; mother, Margaret Klinginsmith of Kearney; sisters, Sherry Klinginsmith of Minden, NE, Angie and Ronnie Plambeck of Kearney, brothers, Brad and Maureen Klinginsmith of Grand Island, NE, Dr. John and Julie Klinginsmith of Kearney; brothers-in-law, Harlan and Marlene Steinhauser of Amherst, NE, and Don Kreutzer of Amherst, NE. Kathy was preceded in death by her father, sisters-in-law Sharon Kay and Karen Ann Steinhauser, Connie Kreutzer, and Reva and Harry Wempen.
