Rose V. Janitscheck, 98, of Kearney and formerly of Pleasanton died Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Prairie View Gardens in Kearney. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pleasanton. Father Richard Piontkowski will officiate and burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation is planned Sunday from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. with a Wake Service to follow at the church in Pleasanton. Memorials are suggested to the family for designation at a later date. She was born March 9, 1920 in Pleasanton to John and Christina (O’Neill) Suntken. She attended Peak Rural School. Rose worked as a cook at the Kearney Airbase during World War II then on April 14, 1948 she married Glenn E. Janitscheck in Pleasanton. She and her husband farmed west of Pleasanton until retiring and moving to Pleasanton. Her husband died in 2000 and she moved to Prairie View Gardens in Kearney in 2012. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pleasanton. Rose enjoyed cooking and baking, gardening, quilting and embroidery work. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Royals and Husker Volleyball. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving relatives include sons, Evert of Litchfield, Donald “Chuckles” and wife Phyllis of Pleasanton, Gary and special friend Pam Dethlefs of Ravenna, Robert and wife Brenda of Pleasanton; daughters, Mary Schaub and husband Rocky and Lori Driml and husband Greg both of Kearney; 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; sister Marylin Trampe and husband Dewaine of Amherst. She was preceded in death by her husband; 3 great grandson; 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
