Eva M Hulshizer

Eva M. Hulshizer, 86, of Kearney, died Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Mount Carmel Home Keens Memorial. Cremation was chosen. The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, May 3, 2019 at Horner Lieske McBride and Kuhl Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, June 28th, 2019 at the Ainsworth Cemetery. Eva May (Hamilton) Hulshizer came into this world October 9, 1932 in Cady, SD, the oldest daughter of Lyle and Flossie (Biltoft) Hamilton. Her family later moved to Valentine and then Ainsworth. She attended rural schools through the 8th grade and graduated from Ainsworth High School with the class of 1950. She taught school both her senior year of high school and the year following graduation. On August 25, 1950 she was united in marriage to William ‘Bill’ Hulshizer in Ainsworth, where they lived the next 2o years. To this union were born five children. Never losing the love of teaching or of learning, she taught her children, and many other children, her love of books, history, and learning in general. Eva was always busy and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, quilting and crafts. In 1971 the family moved to the Kearney area where she would spend her remaining years. After her husband passed in 1976, Eva raised the two children still at home by working at many things, all while holding down a full-time job with the Buffalo County Assessor’s Office. She continued working at the Assessor’s Office until retirement. Eva’s love of life is carried on by her five children, Dianne and her husband Lonnie, Roy, Susie, Keith, Lori and her husband Ed; her brother, Everett and his wife Linda; 10 grandchildren, Loren, Carrie, Cindy, Steph, Amy, Ashley, Logan, Craig, Katie, and Annie; 12 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Terry, Tammy, Harvey Jr. (Chip), Becky and Melody; and more family and friends than can be counted. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents; a grandson, Cody; and a nephew Corey.
