Betty J. Krubeck, age 87, of Kearney died Sunday, March 14, 2010 at the Mt. Carmel Nursing Home in Kearney.Funeral service will be Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at the First Christian Church with Pastor Lew Champ officiating.Burial will be at the Kearney Cemetery.Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:00 P.M. at the Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral Home Kearney and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.Memorials are planned to the Krubeck Family Memorial Scholarship at U.N.K or the First Christian Church.A message of condolence, tribute or memory can be left at www.hlmkfuneral.comHorner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services of Kearney is in charge of arrangements. Betty was born August 22, 1922 in Gibbon to J.D. and Lillian (Adams) Bishop.Betty attended Gibbon High School and graduated in 1939.She attended Kearney State Teachers College from 1939 until 1941.She worked at KGFW Radio in Kearney.She married Floyd Krubeck on January 23, 1943 in Gibbon.They moved to San Angelo, Texas where he was stationed at Goodfellow Field Air Base.There she worked for the Office of Defense Transportation.After the war, she and Floyd lived in Georgia, Nebraska, Colorado, Illinois, and Missouri, while Floyd taught school and obtained his Masters and Doctorate Degrees.While in Columbia, Missouri, she worked in the University of Missouri Music Department.In 1955 they moved to Kearney where Floyd accepted a job at Kearney State College.She worked at the Kearney Chamber of Commerce office.Betty was a member of the First Christian Church, Christian Women?s Fellowship, UNK Faculty Wives, and PEO Chapter FN.She was a past member of the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce Assistants, Kearney State College Alumni Board, and two bridge clubs.She enjoyed church activities, playing bridge, travel, and spending time with her family and friends.
