Donna J. Axmann, 74, of Ravenna died Monday, February 12, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Ravenna from the effects of cancer. Funeral services will be on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Pleasanton. Pastor Dean Hanson will officiate and burial will follow at the Pleasanton Cemetery. Visitation is planned Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney and also 1 hour prior to services on Friday at the church. Donna was born on November 9, 1943 at the farm home of her parents Marvin and Hattie (Wedemeyer) Keilig in rural Buffalo County, Nebraska. She graduated from Ravenna High School in 1962. On September 24, 1962 she married Edward Axmann. They had two children, Diane and Jared. She graduated from Joseph’s College of Beauty and worked at a salon in Ravenna. While raising her family she also worked nights at the Good Samaritan Center, worked at Ravenna Grain and was a mail carrier for the Post Office in Ravenna. She drove the grain cart every fall working alongside her husband in their custom harvesting business. Donna was a devoted “Grams” to her 3 grandchildren and they have many wonderful and fun memories of time spent with her. Donna and Ed have been active members of the Platte Valley Antique Machinery Association and the Central Nebraska Antique Tractor & Equipment Club. They have participated in tractor drives across Nebraska and South Dakota. In 2017 they were part of the Nebraska Centennial Tractor Drive around the state capitol building in Lincoln. Survivors include her husband Ed of Ravenna, NE; daughter Diane and friend John Obermiller of Loup City, NE; son Jared and wife Mona, of Kearney, NE; grandchildren Laura Axmann of Omaha, NE, Rebecca Axmann of Grand Junction, CO and Sam Axmann of Kearney, NE; brother Larry Keilig and wife Carolyn; brother-in-law Lane Nansel; nephews Mike Nansel and Travis Keilig; nieces Debbie (Nansel) Dobesh, Vickie (Nansel) Macafee and Deanna (Keilig) Lichtenberg. Preceding her in death were her parents and her sister Karen.
