Doris V. Ibsen

Doris V. Ibsen, 89, of Kearney, died Saturday July 21, 2012 at the Northridge Retirement Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church with Pastor Eric Lesher and Pastor Rebecca McDermott officiating. Burial will be at the Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to AseraCare Hospice and the First Lutheran Church. Doris was born June 4, 1923 on the family farm near Funk, Nebraska, in Phelps County, to Carl and Frances (Hedstrom) Walline. She graduated from Axtell High School in 1940. Doris married Dale Ibsen on May 18, 1946 in Norton, Kansas. They lived north of Kearney where they farmed. Doris was a member of the First Lutheran Church, where she was involved in the church circle group, and the Glenwood Kensington Extension Club. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano, flower gardening, playing cards, and golfing. Doris was a great cook and baker. Her family, faith fellowship, and friends were a very important part of her life.
