Dorris F. Bendfeldt

Dorris F. Bendfeldt, age 87, of Kearney, died Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney with Father Joseph Hannappel officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 25, 2013from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney and 1 hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the St. James Alter Society. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney are in charge of arrangements. A message of condolence, tribute or memory can be left at www.hlmkfuneral.com Dorris was born on April 28, 1926 on the family farm near Axtell, NE to Harold E. and Josephine B. (Crocker) Carlson. She graduated from Kearney High School and then attended the Kearney State Teachers College. She married Arthur W."Bill" Bendfeldt on January 15, 1947 at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney. The family made their home east of Kearney where they farmed and raised cattle. In 1976 Bill and Dorris retired and moved to Kearney. They built a house in Kearney and lived there for almost 30 years. In 2004 Bill and Dorris moved to the Northridge Retirement Home. Bill passed away in 2011. Dorris was a member of St. James Catholic Church, St. James Alter Society, B.P.O. Does and the Town and Country Extension Club. She was also very involved with the Buffalo County 4 H Club. Dorris also enjoyed bridge club, baking, sewing and quilting. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends at Johnson Lake. Surviving relatives include her daughter, Judy and husband Jay Campion of Austin, TX; granddaughter, Lisa and husband Shane Moe; great grandchildren, Savannah, Sarah Jane, Kayla and Kendra of Austin, TX grandson, Brian and wife Cindy Campion; great grandchildren, Riley, Emerson and Wyatt of Richardson, TX; son, Jim and wife Carol Bendfeldt of Kearney and grandaughter, Heather and husband Doug Brummels and great grandchildren, Harrison and Brielle of Kearney; granddaughter Jamie and husband Brian Powers and great grandchildren, Ethan and Evan of Tulsa, OK; grandson, Shane and wife Jodi Bendfeldt and great grandchildren, Natalie, Karter and"Baby To Be" of Gibbon; son, Bob and wife Brenda Bendfeldt of Gibbon, NE and grandchildren, Kylee Pohl of Omaha, Jennifer Bendfeldt of San Francisco, CA, Brooke Bendfeldt of Lincoln, NE and Brett Bendfeldt of Gibbon.
