Edward L. Marzolf

Edward “Ed” L. Marzolf, 70, of rural Gibbon died Thursday, October 19, 2017 at his home near Gibbon. Memorial services will be on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney. Pastor Robert Perry will officiate and burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Ravenna. There will be no visitation. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services of Kearney is in charge of arrangements. Ed was born on July 28, 1947 in Kearney, NE to William A. and Marie (Miller) Marzolf. He was baptized at the Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney. He grew up in Kearney, attended Kearney High School and graduated in 1965. On April 11, 1969 he married Sharon Stittle at the Newman Center at Kearney State College. Of this Union one daughter and one son were born: Laura and Lannie. They lived in Kearney and later moved to an acreage northeast of town. Ed worked as a plumber and mechanic the majority of his life, but also worked delivering Kearney Hub newspapers, various cement companies, City of Kearney garbage collection, Stormor; pouring bin pads and building bins, Broadfoot's sand & gravel, Dewayne’s Auto repair, Guardsman Security, and retired in September 2000. Ed and Sharon enjoyed many years spending time attending auctions, car shows, parades, swap meets, road trips, camping, fishing, and visiting with people. Ed and Sharon especially enjoyed their time spent in Colorado, Utah and Arizona with his best friend Bruce Smith, wife Joan and their family. Ed could often be found in the garage, or at one of the many car shows he attended with his 1958 Chevy Delray. Survivors include his wife, Sharon of Gibbon, NE; daughter, Laura Johnson and her husband Herb of McCook, NE; son, Lannie Marzolf and his wife Paula of Kearney; sister, Janet McClaran of Kearney; sister in law, Rita Marzolf of Kearney; grandsons, Austin Giltz and his wife Dannette of Colorado, Jackson Wallace and Bronson Wallace of Kearney; granddaughter, Jenna Marzolf of Axtell, NE; great grandchildren, Angelina Giltz and Ronnie (RJ) Giltz; numerous other family and friends. Ed was preceded in death by his Parents and brothers, Charles and Robert.
