Ethel I. Janitscheck

Ethel I. Janitscheck, age 90, of Pleasanton, died Sunday, November 6, 2011 at the Ravenna Good Samaritan Center. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pleasanton United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Reed officiating. Burial will be at the Pleasanton Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the family present, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Pleasanton United Methodist Church. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney is in charge of arrangements. A message of condolence, tribute or memory can be left at www.hlmkfuneral.com. Ethel was born June 10, 1921 in Pleasanton to George and Clara (Johnson) Moberg. She graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1938. She then earned her teaching certificate from Kearney Normal School. Ethel taught in rural schools for four years and then moved to North Platte to teach for four more. She married Cecil S. Janitscheck on March 24, 1948 in North Platte. They moved west of Pleasanton where she helped her husband raise livestock and farm. Ethel also worked as a seamstress from 1970 to 1983. They moved into Pleasanton in 1980 and retired in 1983. She moved to Kearney in 2010. Ethel was an active member of the Pleasanton United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and served as the President of the Pleasanton American Legion Auxiliary Post #321. She loved spending time with grandchildren especially when they would spend the weekends at her house. Ethel enjoyed volunteering at the Church, and the Pleasanton school library. She also enjoyed reading, embroidery, playing cards with friends, and spending time in her vegetable and flower gardens.
