Frances A. Kinkade, age 99, of Kearney died Saturday, April 9 2011 at the Mt Carmel Nursing Home in Kearney.Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Carmel Nursing Home Chapel.Burial will be at the Kearney Cemetery.A wake service will be Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney at 5:00 p.m.Visitation will be Tuesday following the wake service at the funeral home and one hour prior to the mass on Wednesday.Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Frances was born in a sod house on March 6, 1912 in Douglas County South Dakota to Joseph and Mary (Polreis) Thury.She attended Parkston High School in South Dakota and then she attended Business School in Mitchell South Dakota.After school she moved to Denver, Colorado, San Diego, California, and on to Bremerton, Washington.She met her husband Herman there and they were married on March 25, 1940 in Long Beach, California.They moved to Kearney in 1957, where she worked at the Nebraska Tuberculosis Hospital for many years as a medical secretary.She was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, where she was active in Keenagers and the Altar Society.At Mount Carmel , she was a member of the Lay Carmelite Order, serving as secretary.Music was her joy, she spent many hours playing waltzes and polkas on her piano, gathering family around to sing along.Frances enjoyed family, playing cards, gardening, sewing, and baking.Carrot cookies and cinnamon rolls were her specialty, loved by all.
