Gerald L. "Jerry" Borron

Gerald L. “Jerry” Borron, 83, died May 31, 2025, at his home in Kearney. Memorial Services will be 2:00 pm, June 5, 2025, at New Life Church in Kearney with Pastor Roger Wendt officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to New Life Church. Jerry was born on January 8, 1942, in Ogallala, Nebraska to Archie and Violet (Sautter) Borron. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad for twenty-two years, retiring in 1997. Jerry married Peggy Nelson August 2, 1990, in North Platte. They moved to Kearney in 2009. Jerry was many things to many people. A son, brother, dad, grandpa, papa, poppy, husband and friend. The glue to the family. He was an important role in many lives, a hero without a cape, a role model, master on the grill, and in the kitchen, the sneaker of sweets, an adventurous soul, the man of the family, a man of the church, the kind helping neighbor of the community, amazing woodworker, jack of many trades, and all around one of a kind. God truly blessed us with such an amazing positive supportive spirit for so many years even when it doesn’t feel like it was long enough. Jerry loved spending time with his kids, grandkids, great grandkids, and youth group at the church. basically any of the kids to help bring out the big kid in his heart. He had a special way of making everyone feel so special, loved and welcomed. If there was something to be fixed, he would find it or break something himself to fix it. Fibbing about his age to make himself older and younger. Tricks, pranks, making faces, harassment out of love was his way of reminding everyone he cared. If Jerry wasn’t giving you a hard time, he didn’t like you. Jerry is survived by his wife, Peggy Borron of Kearney; son, Bill Borron of Idahoe Falls, ID; daughters, Lynette Swalburg of Kearney, Voni Hansen of North Platte, Starla Borron of Kearney, Elizabeth and Jacob Geist of Kearney, Sharon and Larry Frazier of Lexington; stepson Jim and Stephanie Ward of Hershey; 21 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; sisters, Betty Cheevers of Loveland, CO, and Judy Erickson of Colorado Springs, CO. Jerry was preceded in death by parents, three sisters, and six brothers.
