Howard E. Bebb

Howard E. Bebb, 76, of Kearney died Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 10, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Kearney. Rev. Stan Murdoch will officiate. Burial of ashes will be at a later date in Norton, Kansas. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church or to the family for designated use at a later date. He was born November 14, 1934, in Norton, Kansas, to Raymond and Arietta (Trotter) Bebb. His mother died at a young age and he and his sisters were raised by their father and his second wife; Irene. He graduated from Almena, KS High School in 1953. On May 21, 1955, he married Claryce Foster in Norton, KS. Howard served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1961, then served four years in the Reserve. Upon his discharge from the Air Force, he and his family returned to Norton. Howard was a hard working man of many talents, which he utilized in a variety of jobs throughout his lifetime. These included Fire Chief, Maintenance Superintendent, Owner/Operator of a Service Station, electrician, plumber and carpenter. Toward the end of his career, he was employed by Eaton’s in Kearney and then had been a rural newspaper carrier with his wife. Howard enjoyed fishing, rock collecting, spending time in the mountains, restoring bicycles, fixing just about anything, helping others and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband and father, a kind hearted man with a witty sense of humor. His wife Claryce passed away in January of 2011. Surviving relatives include: son William (Bill) and wife Reesa Bebb of Kearney; daughter in law Monica Bebb of Lenora, KS; sister Sandra and husband Garry Tuller of Hill City, KS grandchildren Jeremy and wife Celeste Webster, Erik and wife Hannah, Jamie and wife Jillian, Josie, Jared, Jordan, Jonas and Jesse Bebb; Gavyn Reier, Justin and wife Megan, Stephen and Zane Bebb; and great grandchildren Abby Bebb, Tanner, Alexxys, Kaleb and Owen Webster and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to his wife he is preceded in death by two sons, Albert and Charles and two sisters Jane and Karen. PDF Printable Version
