Jimmy H. Geisler, 62 of Kearney, died on Friday, October 25, 2024 at CHI - Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Memorial services will be on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pleasanton Community Center. There will be no visitation and burial will be later. Jimmy Herman Geisler was born in Kearney, NE on August 2, 1962 to Bernard and Frida (Weller) Geisler. He was raised on the family farm south of Pleasanton and graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1981. Jimmy served in the National Guard after graduating from high school. Jimmy’s employment included: Coleman Powermate, Ace Irrigation, Mid-Nebraska Construction, Union Pacific and Broadfoot’s Sand & Gravel. The career that likely brought him the most joy was driving for the City of Kearney Sanitation Department. Jimmy’s “dump” truck featured a large stuffed animal attached to the front grill, inspiring smiles every trash day along his route. Jimmy’s heart of gold was recognized by all who knew him. He was always willing to lend a hand. Jimmy volunteered for the Kearney Fire Department and the Safe Center. He loved hunting, camping, and fishing. He also enjoyed celebrating the 4th of July by setting off a barrage of fireworks and dressing up on Halloween. Jimmy and Chris Barnett wed and together had two sons, Derik and Ryan. In October 1989 he married Karen Wardenburg. To their union Shanon was born. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Shanon (2016). Survivors include his wife, Karen; sons, Derik (Vanessa) Geisler of Naval Air Station, Whidbey Island, WA, Ryan Geisler; grandchildren, Jenna Beckman of Lincoln, Olivia Beckman of Holdrege, Bladen, Alexia, Maxton, Ronin and Auri Geisler of Naval Air Station, Whidbey Island, WA; sisters, Nancy (Dan) Lyon of Kearney, Heide (Pat) Epley of Pleasanton, and brother, Steve (Sharon) Geisler of Riverdale, and numerous nieces and nephews.
