Luella B. Wuehler, 81, Amherst died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Amherst. Rev. Dean Hanson and Vicar Bill Heermann will officiate. Burial will be at Immanuel Cemetery northwest of Amherst. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney or prior to services Saturday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Amherst Volunteer Fire Department, Trinity Lutheran Church or to the family to be designated at a later date. She was born December 19, 1931 in Pleasanton to Emil and Bertha (Schwab) Kreutzer. She grew up in Riverdale and graduated from Riverdale High School in 1950. She married Melvin Wuehler June 10, 1950 in Kearney. They lived in Amherst from 1950 – 1954 then moved to Bellingham, WA, and lived there until 1958 then moved back to Amherst where she and her husband farmed and had a dairy operation. She worked at Kearney State College from 1964 1968. Luella was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Amherst, NE. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, traveling, fishing, reading, crocheting, gardening and bowling. She will be remembered for her compassion, big heart open to all with unconditional love, and the open door to her house to anyone that needed a place to be. She loved to take care of people and would always ensure that they were fed before leaving her house. She truly was the foundation and rock to her family. Surviving relatives include daughters, Linda Nelson and her husband, Rick, of Lincoln, Jeanie Nickel and her husband John, of Elm Creek, Cindy Moniger and her husband, Tim of Shelton, and Jackie Trampe and her husband, Ron, of Elm Creek; sons, Alvin of Seattle and John of Amherst; grandchildren, Angie Nelson, Kimberly and Zach Zegers, Bill Nickel, Jim Nickel, Lisa and Kirk Frecks, Seth Moninger, Isaac Wuehler, James and Sheri Gifford, Matt Gifford, Clayten Wuehler and Hunter, Keaton, Jordyn, Gabriele, Garret and Jaiden Trampe; and great grandchildren, Ethan, Ashlynn , Quinn and Teagan Zegers, Macy and Kyan Nickel, Taylor Kotas and great great granddaughter, Chloe, Hunter and Carter Frecks and James, Janna, Abby, Willy and Gaberele Gifford. She is also survived by sisters; Twila Bosshamer and husband Loren of Amherst, NE, Marilyn Bailey and husband Bill of Lexington, NE Lois Lee of Riverdale, Ne, brother; Allen Kreutzer and wife Charleen of Kearney, NE, brother in law; James Wuehler of Montgomery, AL, and sister in law; Ruth Kreutzer of Kearney, NE.
