Mildred B. ?Peg? Kincaid, age 98, of Kearney, died Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the Mother Hull Home in Kearney.A Memorial Service will be Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at the First Christian Church in Kearney at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Lew Champ officiating.Burial will be at the Kearney Cemetery.Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church and the Mother Hull Home in Kearney.A message of condolence, tribute, or memory can be left at www.hlmkfuneral.com. Peg was born February 1, 1912 in Amherst to William and Mary (McCord) Johnson.She graduated from Amherst High School in 1930.She then received her teacher?s certificate from the Nebraska Normal School in Kearney.Peg taught school in Mason City and in Worland, Wyoming.She took the train with her future mother in law to Ridgeland, South Carolina where she married Virgil D. Kincaid on February 26, 1942.He then left to serve his country during the war.She returned to Nebraska and continued teaching in Mason City.Peg became a social worker in Buffalo County in the mid 1950?s retiring in 1982.She and her husband enjoyed traveling in retirement until his health would no longer permit.She cared for her husband at home for many years.She moved into Wel Life in 1999 and then Mother Hull home in 2009.She was a member of the First Christian Church in Kearney.Peg was an avid reader, enjoyed watching sports on T.V., and was a Husker fan.She also enjoyed discussing current events with family and friends, and was a social activist.
