Noella C. Koch

Noella C. Koch, 98, of Kearney and formerly Upland, NE died Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Mother Hull Home in Kearney. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Kearney. Father Paul Colling will officiate. Graveside services and burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Upland Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Noella Cecilia Boudreau was born February 8, 1919 near Upland, Nebraska to William and Alma (Choquette) Boudreau. On April 7, 1937 she married Willard Alexander Koch and in September 1937 they moved to Enid, Oklahoma where, together, they operated the Consumer Cooperative warehouse until 1943 when they returned to the Upland area to farm and they remained there for the 66 years of their marriage. Noella was an excellent cook, seamstress and gardener but the most important thing to her was family. She was a very patient mother who accepted the individuality of each of her four children—never trying to make them into something they weren’t. Noella loved traveling with Willard to blue rock shoots throughout the U. S. and she loved, loved, loved to play cards. She belonged to the “Our Lucky Day” extension club for 47 years. She is survived by daughters Carol Lee Nielsen and husband Bob Nielsen of Pasadena, CA, Joyce Lieske and husband Ron of Kearney, NE; son, Grady Koch of Upland, NE and Karen Koch of Kearney, NE. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, Kurt Kriemelmeyer and wife Cindy of Palatine, IL, Wayne Kriemelmeyer and wife Kathy of Wheaton, IL, Andrea Speicher and husband Larry of Kearney, Amy Peterson and husband LeRoy of Omaha, NE, Eric Nielsen and wife Michelle of Santa Barbara, CA, Boyd Nielsen and wife Emily of Piedmont, CA, Brit Koch and wife Michelle of York, NE & Blaine Koch and wife Anna of Kernerville, NC and 17 great grandchildren. Noella was preceded in death by her husband Willard and her daughter, Sherri Kriemelmeyer and her son-in-law, John Kriemelmeyer of Chicago, Illinois, and infant grandson Blake Adam Koch.
