Norma L. Marshall

Norma L. Marshall, 86, of Elm Creek died Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at St. Luke’s Good Samaritan Village in Kearney. Funeral services will be Monday, July 23, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Elm Creek. Rev. Steve Smith will officiate and burial will be at Williamsburg Cemetery south of Elm Creek. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Elm Creek or prior to services on Monday. Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church in Elm Creek or to the Elm Creek Emergency Unit. A message of condolence may be left at www.hlmkfuneral.com. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney are in charge of arrangements. She was born May 1, 1926 in Elm Creek, NE to Harold L. and Mary E. (Strickler) Mapes. She grew up in Elm Creek and graduated from Elm Creek High School in 1944. She then attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. On October 1, 1946 she married Richard T."Dick" Marshall in Elm Creek. The couple farmed south of Elm Creek for 50 years. They moved to Elm Creek in 1970. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Elm Creek, the United Methodist Women, Garden Club and attended Coffee Club for 55 years. Surviving relatives: Son Richard H. and wife Lee Marshall of Elm Creek, NE Daughter : Mary and husband Lynn Swartwood of Hershey, NE Granddaughters Monica and husband Gregg Fear of Hershey and great grandchildren; Tyrel and Cody Ann and husband Neil Hinrichsen of Elm Creek and great grandchildren; Emilee and Lane Amy and husband Mark Gillming of Goodland, KS and great grandchildren; Dillon and Nathan Pat and husband Ryan Hellriegel of Elm Creek and great grandchildren; Ava and Ashlyn Sara Marshall of Scottsdale, AZ Grandsons Dustin and wife Cindy Swartwood of Avondale, AZ and great grandchildren; Katelyn, Kellee, Jake and Draven Richard"Pete" and wife Alyssa Marshall of Minden, NE and great grandchild; Katherine Heath and wife Patricia Getty of Elm Creek and great grandchildren; Steven, Darin, Elizabeth, Havyn, Chloe and Memphis She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999, daughter and son in law; Nancy and Dan Getty, grandson; Jared Getty and daughter in law; Rhonda Marshall.
