Paul E. Harms

Paul E. Harms, age 79, of Kearney died Tuesday morning, January 12, 2016 at the Kearney Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be Friday, January 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Alan Gager officiating. Graveside services and burial will be in the afternoon following lunch at the church at 1:00 p.m. in the Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Friday morning at the Church. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney are in charge of arrangements. Paul was born July 25, 1936 in his grandparents home at Wilcox to Herman H. and Helen E. (Carskdon) Harms. He attended school in Hildreth and was a graduate of Hildreth High School in 1955. Paul entered the service on Nov. 17, 1959 and served in the U.S. Army until he was discharged on Febr. 12, 1962. He married Barbara A. Keenan on July 21, 1963 in Grand Island. They lived in Albion until moving to Kearney in 1965 when they established the Harms Drywall Contracting Company that he and his wife operated for over 40 years until he retired in 2006. Paul was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Kearney Elks Lodge # 984, V.F.W. Post # 759 and the Homebuilders Association. Surviving relatives include his wife; Barbara; daughters; Tressie Nootz and her husband Tim of Olathe, KS, Lisa Wuehler and her husband Dale of Fayetteville, AR, Deniese Smith and her husband Brian of Windsor, CO, Lori Prichard and her husband Dan of Lenexa, KS and Rita Shay and her husband Robert of Olathe, KS; sister Jean Rush and her husband Lloy Dean of Axtell, NE and 11 grandchildren; mother in law Fern Higley of Kearney; brother in law Robert Keenan and his wife Chris of Renton, WA and sister in law Wanetta Halbert of Kearney; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and adopted friends of the kids. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Mary Mason.
