Reatha L. Bridge Miller, 97, of Kearney died Thursday, December 1, 2011 at St. John’s Good Samaritan Center in Kearney. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 2:00 at the First United Church in North Loup, NE. Rev. Bruce Phillips will officiate and burial will be at the Hillside Cemetery in North Loup. Visitation will be prior to services at the church. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church in North Loup. She was born May 10, 1914 to Edwin and Dora (Nave) Manchester at their home in North Loup. She was the youngest of six siblings; Gerald, Lloyd, Leonard, Lois and Ilda. She grew up in North Loup and graduated from North Loup High School. She was awarded a normal training certificate for teaching and taught at the Fussyville School District in Valley County, NE. On February 14, 1934 she married Delbert Bridge in North Loup. Most of her life was devoted to farm life in Sherman and Valley Counties in Nebraska. After farm life she worked at Vera’s Style Schoppe and Vodenal Pharmacy in North Loup. Her husband died in 1971 and she then moved to Grand Island and worked for the Hovland Swanson Store. She married George Miller October 31, 1981 in Cannon City, CO. They lived there until moving to Gibbon, NE in 1998. Her 2nd husband died in 1998 and she moved to Kearney and lived at Cambridge Court until moving to St. John’s Good Samaritan Center. She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church and also the Methodist Women. She had been a member of the Rebecca Lodge and the B.P.O Doe’s Lodge. She had been a 4 H leader and loved to play cards and belonged to several card clubs. In her younger days she enjoyed square dancing. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Jack and Judy Bridge of Kearney and her daughter and son in law, Ginger and Vern Sorenson of Pasco, WA. She is also survived by grandchildren, Greg and wife Deb Bridge and Brett and wife Jen Bridge of Kearney and Michael and wife Lori Sorenson of Pasco, WA and great grandchildren, Aaron and Emily, Noah and Madeline Bridge of Kearney. She is also survived by her sister, Lois Dowell of California. In addition to her husband’s she is preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 infant sister. PDF Printable Version
