Stuart A. Huber

Stuart A. Huber, 69, of rural Kearney, died on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln surrounded by his family and friends. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 16, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Kearney. Rev. Stan Murdoch will officiate and burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride and Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney are in charge of arrangements. Stuart was born on March 10, 1947 in Grant, NE to Richard and Ruby (Johnson) Huber. He attended school in Ogallala and graduated from Ogallala High School in 1965. From there he moved to Kearney, NE and attended Kearney State College graduating in 1969 with degrees in psychology and business administration. He met and married Melanie Morrison in 1968. They had two daughters, Tonya and Tara. Stu married Ginger in 1987, making their home at Summerhaven Lake. Stu and Ginger loved being out at the lake and being able to travel and spend time with grandchildren. Stu and Ginger were long-time residents of Kearney where Stu was employed at AVCO Financial, Caldwell Manufacturing and Chief Industries. He also created and operated L&S Industries with Lee Fruhling and later enjoyed rehabbing houses and managing rentals with his wife. Over the years Stu was involved in various community organizations including the Kearney Softball League, the YMCA Board and his First Baptist Church Family. Stu was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed. Stu is survived by his wife Ginger, of Summerhaven Lake; Daughter, Tonya Ostrand and her husband Carl of Central City, NE; Daughter, Tara Harris and her husband Christopher of St. Louis, MO; Step Children, Tonia Sohrweid of Lincoln, NE and Brian Sohrweid and his wife Paula of Cheyenne, WY; Sister, Jerri “Starchy” Cole and her husband Doug of Ogallala, NE; Grandchildren, Cailyn, Cassidy, Claire, and Carsyn Ostrand, Parker Harris, Cidney Sohrweid, BJ Sohrweid, Rhett Cervantes, Brandon Wagner and Bronc, Carissa and Eric Sohrweid; 10 Great Grandchildren. Stu was preceded in death by his Parents and Grandson, Cody Kreutzer.
