Thelma A. Wise, age 93 of Kearney, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at Mother Hull Home in Kearney. Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney. Pastor Jeff Wulf will officiate and burial will be at Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney and also 1 hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. On May 4th, 2025 Thelma passed to her eternal home at Mother Hull Home in Kearney Nebraska with family by her side. Thelma was born on July 2, 1931 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney Nebraska to Wesley “Spencer” and Mabel (Criffield) Aden. She attended and graduated from Longfellow Highschool in Kearney in 1949. Thelma met and later married R.D. Buzz Wise, Jr. on June 28, 1949 in Beaver City, Nebraska. Thelma worked as the Book Keeper at Buzz’s Body Shop and Marine Supply all while also managing a busy household. Together Buzz and Thelma built Buzz’s Marine, Inc., leaving a lasting legacy that is now on its fourth generation. Thelma was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney for 81 years. She was also a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, the Red Hat Society, the Village Goldsmith Investment Club, the BPOE Does, KHS Class of 49 Reunion committee, and served on various committees through her church. Surviving Relatives include her son, R.D. “Mick” Wise III (Sue) of Kearney; daughters, Susan Divan (John), Nancy Straatmann (Randy) and Audrey Carrier (Ty) all of Kearney; “Other” daughter, Linda Vinderslev (Norm) of Kearney; special friend, Kenny Beahm of Kearney; grandchildren, Ryan Wise (Tasha), Heather Hasbrouck all of Kearney, Lindsay Cook (Josh) of Broken Bow, Sarah Jensen (Dru), Hannah Schmidt (Travis) all of Kearney; great granchildren, Chole Wells (Alex) of Funk, Hope Wise, Parker Wise, Chase Divan, Tyler Divan (Mariah) all of Kearney, Keegan Hasbrouck of Shelton, Lily Hasbrouck of Kearney, Caylee Cook and Atley Cook both of Broken Bow, Tate Straatmann and Dylan Straatmann both of York, Emma Covey and Alexis Covey both of Omaha, Olyvia Sayre Straatmann, Carter Schmidt, Briar Straatmann Burch, Wyatt Schmidt and Malachi Major all of Kearney; Three great great grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Buzz; her parents; her siblings, Wayne, Howard, Sylvia, and Erma; and her grandchildren, Chad and Dyan Wise, Samantha Straatmann, Seth Carrier, and Crystal Vinderslev.
