Wanda C. Morrison

Wanda Claire Morrison, 88, of Kearney died Saturday, December 3, 2011 at St. John’s Good Samaritan Center in Kearney. Funeral services will be Friday, December 9, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Kearney. Rev. Stan Murdoch will officiate and burial will be at Kearney Cemetery. Visitation is planned Thursday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney or prior to services at the church on Friday. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or to First Baptist Church. She was the oldest of four children born to Hugo and Alice (Lockard) Olson January 29, 1923 in Sumner, Nebraska. She graduated from Sumner High School in 1941 and attended Kearney Teachers College for 1 year. Wanda married Arthur Morrison on July, 7 1946. They had 3 children and made their home in Kearney where Wanda worked as a medical secretary for Drs. Curtiss and Peck and in the Radiology Dept. at Good Samaritan Hospital. Wanda was rarely apart from Art. Their most enjoyable times were spent together watching their children and grandchildren's activities. They also enjoyed socializing with their friends in a group they called"elbow benders". She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kearney and involved with the BPO Does, Evening Belles and Christian Women’s Club. Survivors include two children Melanie Morrison of Kearney, Dennis Morrison (Natalie) of Scottsdale, AZ., four grandchildren Tonya Huber Ostrand and husband Carl of Central City, NE, Tara Huber Harris and husband Chris of St. Louis, MO, Alex and Kelly Morrison of Scottsdale, AZ, five great grandchildren, Cailyn, Cassidy, Claire, Carsyn Ostrand and Parker Harris. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur in 2006, and an infant son, Randall. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Hugo Olson, Jr., Claude Lewis"Bud" Olson and sister Nadine Westerlin. PDF Printable Version
