Wayne H. Brown

Wayne H. Brown, 97, of Lexington and formerly of Pleasanton died Monday, October 03, 2011 at the Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney. Rev. Dean Pofahl will officiate. Burial will be at the Pleasanton Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Nebraska National Guard Military Honors Team and the Pleasanton American Legion Post #321 and the Pleasanton V.F.W. Post #9481. Visitation is planned Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. or prior to services Thursday at the Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department or the Lexington Regional Health Center Hospice Program. He was born September 20, 1914 in Arapahoe, NE to Bertie and Gladys (Horn) Brown. He attended country school near Wauneta, NE then did ranch and farm work in the area. On April 23, 1942 he married Phyllis Rankin in McCook, NE. He is a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Army Air Corp from 1941 – 1943. He farmed in the Wauneta area then in 1948 moved to Miller, NE where he farmed and ranched then moved to Pleasanton where he farmed until 1964. He Then worked for the Buffalo County Roads Department until retiring in 1979. His wife died in 1992 he then moved to Lexington in 2001. He loved farming and livestock and especially horses. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren and also his many road trips with his son Roger.
