    Charles I. Bill Jr.

    May 23, 1925 - February 1, 2020

    Charles I. Bill Jr., 94, of Kearney, formerly of Cleveland, OH died Saturday, February 1, 2020 peacefully of congestive heart failure at home in the care of hospice. Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Fr. Paull Colling officiating. His ashes will be interred in Cleveland at a future date. Memorials are suggested to Asera Care Hospice of Kearney and the Food Pantry at Prince of Peace Church. Charles was born May 23, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio to Charles and Florence (née Mesker) Bill. A graduate of West High School, Baldwin-Wallace College and Bowling Green State University, Charles served his country as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1946, stationed in the U.S. and Philippines. He married Mary (née Fournier) Bill in 1952 and raised three children in Cleveland. He was a retired executive of the Ferro Corporation in Cleveland, Ohio. Charles was an award-winning gardener, avid reader, crossword puzzle fan, and accomplished gourmet cook. An audiophile, he loved classical music, especially opera, and enjoyed entertaining family and friends at home. He was an active volunteer in the Monday Night Meal ministry at St. Malachi Parish (Cleveland, OH) for over 20 years. Charles organized the Ferro Corp. team for the annual American Cancer Society bikeathon. He and Mary liked to travel and were lifelong supporters of the arts in Cleveland. Since 2012, he has lived in Kearney with his daughter. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and enjoyed the arts at UNK. Charles is survived by his children Kate Bill (Bruce Lang) and Matt (Lisa) Bill of Rocky River, OH, and Anne Foradori of Kearney, NE; and by grandsons Aaron (Teresa) Bill and Luke Bill of Washington D.C., Noah (Marissa) Bill of Cleveland, and Charles Foradori of Kearney. He is the great grandfather of Alexander. He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife, Mary, and many other family members and friends.
