Dana R. Rodehorst, 52, of Kearney, died February 21, 2022 at Kearney Regional Medical Center. Memorial Services will be 10:30 am, March 1, 2022 at Kearney eFree Church with Pastor Tim Peterson officiating. Dana was born June 14, 1969 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. He attended Kindergarten in Mt Pleasant Iowa. His family moved to Ogallala Nebraska in July of 1975. He graduated from Ogallala High School in May 1987. Following graduation, he attended Kearney State College and Southeast Community College in Lincoln. He worked with Amigos Restaurants in Omaha and Kansas City MO managing the opening of new stores. Returning to Kearney in 1994, Dana loved the hospitality industry and bartending. He managed Maxwells, The Elephants Eye and Pony’s in Kearney. In 1996 he married Jennifer Behlmann in Kearney. They had two beautiful children, Jaden Robert and Megan Hannah Rodehorst. In 1998 Dana purchased the Dome Lounge, which he owned and managed for 24 years. In 2010 Dana married Kari Nutt. Dana welcomed 3 bonus children, Jordan, Dakota and Joslyn Poff. Dana is remembered for his love of entertaining. He loved family events, cooking for friends, holidays and parties. His famous quote was “It’s all about the fun”. Dana loved his business but truly loved his “Dome family”, customers who were all friends and family. He did not know a stranger and never forgot a face. Dana had a huge heart, was generous, loyal and patient. Dana loved water, swimming, boating, fishing and beach activities. He enjoyed road trips, especially a recent trip to Washington with son Jaden. Dana always had dogs and loved having great dogs as his companions. He completed professional K9 training in Indiana in the 1990’s and was proud of those skills, and the dogs he trained and loved. He was a huge fan of all things Pink Floyd, The Raiders, and the Avalanche, and playing fooseball. He was also the absolute favorite “Uncle D” to his many nieces and nephews. Dana is survived by his children, Jaden Rodehorst and Megan Rodehorst and fiancé Elijah Cortez of Kearney; mother LeAnn (Jim) Ayres, of Ogallala, NE; father Keith (Jan) Rodehorst, of Kearney; grandfather Bob (Carolyn) Graybeal of Richland, WA; sisters, Emily (Casey) Mack of Buckeye, AZ, Erica (Darby) Flansburg Ogallala, NE; step-brother James (Angie) Ayres of North Platte NE, Brian (Ece) Skourup of Atlanta, GA; step-sisters, Jacque Ayres of North Platte, NE, Jodi (Doug Radke) Whelan of Grand Island, NE, Anne Skourup of Chicago, IL; step-children, Jordan Poff and Dakota Poff Omaha, NE, and Joslyn Poff Kearney; honorary grandson, Cristian Cortez Kearney; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and his huge amazing Dome family.
