Darrel W. Ross

Darrel W. Ross, 86 of Gibbon, formerly Sunnyvale, CA, died on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, January 26, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Kearney Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Pastor Tim Osborne will officiate and burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery near Gibbon, NE. Military honors will be provided at graveside. Darrel was born on July 3, 1935 to Ira and Irene (Hoffman) Ross on the family farm near Shelton, NE. He attended Shelton High School and graduated in 1953. After high school, Darrel joined the United States Army and served from 1958 – 1960. He later briefly attended college before entering the workforce. Darrel married Jodi Chien on September 30, 2005 in Kearney. Darrel was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Kearney. He enjoyed collecting and working on cars and tractors, especially Case IH. Surviving relatives include his wife, Jodi of Sunnyvale, CA; step-children, James Lin and Kathy Lin and her husband Abu Wawda all of California; step-grandchildren, Hannah, Rebecca and Ella Wawda. Darrel was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law.
