Linda Sue Harris was born on June 12th, 1948 in Shenandoah, Iowa to George Wilbur and Billie Marie (Shelton) Harris. Linda attended Shenandoah Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1966. In late 1963 at the age of 15, Linda met her soul mate, Richard White. They were united in marriage on June 4th, 1966 at the First Christian Church in Shenandoah. They began their married life together in Shenandoah where they welcomed their first child, Jeff in 1968. The family relocated to Kearney in the early fall of 1968 when Rich was transferred with Earl May. From there, they lived in Council Bluffs, Iowa before making a home in Marshalltown, Iowa in 1972. It was there that they welcomed their two daughters, Julie in 1974 and Jessica in 1983. In 1986, Rich was offered the Earl May store manager position at the Kearney store and the family moved back to Central Nebraska. Linda held different secretary positions throughout the 1970's and 80's, but stayed at home with each of her children until they started school. Upon moving to Kearney, she worked from home as a typesetter for Morris Press, a job she held until her retirement from typing in 2018. In 1992, Linda found her true calling as a secretary in the Guidance Office at Kearney High School. She is fondly remembered by her co-workers and the numerous students she met over the years. She was known for her infectious smile, her understanding ear, her uncanny ability to be ornery as well as pulling pranks on her unsuspecting co-workers. After 21 years with KHS, Linda retired in the summer of 2013. This gave her more time to travel and to do what she did best, spoil her grandkids. She wasn't just "Mom" and "Grandma" to her own family, it was to almost every person she encountered. And if you met her, you most certainly would have been invited over for dinner and a game of cards. Linda enjoyed every second of family time she had. She always had a story to tell and would leave people laughing. She had such a huge heart and was always there for those she loved. Linda was the center of attention with a magnetic personality that made people want to be around her. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of nearly 56 years; her son Jeff (Debbi) White of Lakewood, Colorado and her daughters, Julie (Casey) Jensen of Aurora, Nebraska and Jessica (Kyle) Snover of Elm Creek, Nebraska. Linda was also a beloved Grandma to six grandchildren: Jade Wimer of Jacksonville, Florida; McKenzie and Austin White both of Lakewood, Colorado; Kaylee Jensen of Aurora, Nebraska; Carter Lawrence of Kearney and Addison Snover of Elm Creek. She also leaves behind her "puppy" Peyton. Linda is survived additionally by her brother, Jerry (Sally) of Golconda, Illinois; sister Sandy (Rick) of Grimes, Iowa; mother-in-law Irene of Shenandoah, Iowa; sisters-in-law Judy (Rod) of Oskaloosa, Iowa and Jeannie (Lynn) of Shenandoah, Iowa and her "adopted sister" Pat Morse of Kearney. She was also survived by and will be missed by numerous extended family members. Linda was proceeded in death by her parents; sister Donna; brother, Larry and father-in-law, Buddy.
