Tamera L. Green

Tamera (Tammy) L. Green, 62, of Blue Hill, formerly of Kearney, died February 4, 2022 at Azria Health in Blue Hill, Nebraska. Memorial services will be 10:30 am, February 8, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Kearney. Burial will follow the service at Kearney Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family. There will be no visitation. Tammy was born April 30, 1959 in Logansport, Indiana to Joe and Audrey (Johnson) Shafer. She graduated from Logansport High School in 1976, and then earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Tri-State University in Angola, Indiana. Tammy lived in Thornton, Colorado where she worked in the lab for a dairy. In 1996 she moved to Kearney. She worked at Horizon Middle School as a Para-educator and the Y.M.C.A. as a janitor. She was active in her kids’ activities, especially coaching softball for her daughters and refereeing many sports. She was very devoted to her children. Tammy enjoyed reading, sketching, and writing in her journal. She had a green thumb and loved working in her garden. Tammy was an active member at First Baptist Church in Kearney. Tammy is survived by her children, Jennifer Green and fiancée Tim Marquez of Houston, TX, Joe Green of Kearney, Jessica and Clay Johnson of Hastings, NE, Julianne Green of Kearney; grandchildren, Katarina and Magnus Johnson of Hastings, NE; brothers, Joe and Terri Shafer of Austin, TX, Bryan Shafer of Logansport, IN. Tammy was preceded in death by her parents.
