He joined his older sisters, Merilyn and Margaret. He graduated from Kearney High School in May 1968, joined the army, and was in Viet Nam by July 1968. He served two tours in Viet Nam and one tour in Germany. In 1973, he married Sheila O’Shea. Their children are Willie (Kellie) Abood, Amber (Curtis) Taylor, Lindsay (Rob) Dolezal, Katherine (Chris) McClemens, and Judith (Josh) Geiselman. In 1988, he started Abood Construction. His word was truly his bond, and most business agreements were done with a handshake and his promise to do a great job. No one could ever out-work Bill Abood! He was honest, unselfish, and reliable. William was unfailingly generous - to the point of not always being wise. He gave away many things that later needed to be repurchased. He loved his family to bits. Nothing was too hard for him to accomplish for his wife and kids. And then - oh my gosh - came the seventeen grandkids! The man that put his five-year-old son behind the wheel of his pickup and told him to follow him home, could not be careful enough with his grandchildren. “Shake it off!” became “Are you hurt? Let’s get some ice on that and some ice cream, too.” In 2017, William had his third stroke - a big one. He astounded all the doctors by recovering so well - except that his right lung was never as strong and resilient. He got covid in December. William would want to tell everyone to be ready to meet Jesus. We had our tree put up and the gifts all wrapped underneath. But he never came home from the hospital. We are not promised how long we are here. William made his decision for Christ and met Jesus for the first time, in front of the coffee machine at Good Samaritan Hospital in December 1975. Years later, he stepped into the arms of Jesus at that very same hospital...by Grace alone, through Faith alone, in Christ alone. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Sheila, five children and their spouses, seventeen grandchildren, nieces and nephews, his beloved sister - Margaret Herrold, Judy Walker - his sister-in-law, and many, many friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
