A. Jane McHarness, 85, of Kearney died Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Good Samaritan Society – St. John’s. Private services will be held at the North Platte City Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney are in charge of arrangements. She was born February 25, 1930 in North Platte, NE to James and Viola (Keslar) Spidell. She grew up in Missouri and later moved into Nebraska. While living in North Platte, NE she worked at the Haythorn Ranch and later the Central Nebraska Packing Company where she met Russell Henry. They married April 22, 1950. She later married Charles McHarness on July 11, 1964 in Lexington, NE They lived in Cozad, NE, then moved to Alliance, NE where she worked for the Abbott family doing housekeeping and as a nanny. They later moved to Grand Island, NE. Jane moved to Kearney in 1978 and worked at the Kearney Senior Hospitality Center assisting and care for others. She was a longtime resident of Cimarron Court Apartments where she was known as the “Butterfly Lady”. She enjoyed gathering butterfly collectibles also, working puzzles, crocheting, collecting antique glassware, and she especially loved helping others and spending time with her family. Surviving relatives include sons, Robert Henry and wife Donna of Kearney, NE, David Henry and wife Violet of Altus, OK, Larry Henry and wife Nancy of Bellevue, NE, John McHarness and wife Carrie of Kearney, NE; daughters, Nanetta Nelson and husband Steve of Kearney, NE, Janice Beck of Hastings, NE; brother Raymond Spidell and wife Louise of St. Joseph, MO; sisters, Betty Lovell of Knoxville, TN, viola Schultz and husband Floyd of North Platte, NE; 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her both of her husbands; 1 son, Michael; 1 brother, Robert; 1 sister, Rose Foster and great granddaughter, Esther Stoves in infancy. PDF Printable Version
