Delila L. Hinrichsen, age 71, of Kearney, died on Monday, September 7, 2020 at CHI Health – Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Services will be on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Kearney, mask are requested. Rev. Melody Adams will officiate and burial will be at Prairie Center Cemetery at Havens Chapel. Visitation with family will be on Thursday, September 10, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney and also 1 hour prior to services on Friday at the church. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney are in charge of arrangements. Delila was born on May 4, 1949 in Kearney, NE to Kenneth W. and H. Ruth (Baldree) Gewecke. She attended East 12 elementary school and then attended school in Elm Creek for a few years before the family moved to a farm north of Kearney. At this time, Delila began attending school in Pleasanton. While at Pleasanton she was an all-star volleyball player and set a record for serves there. She graduated from Pleasanton High School with the class of 1967. Delila married Jay J. Hinrichsen on October 24, 1971 at Havens Chapel. She worked at West Company, Sugar Bee Bakery, Daylight Donuts, Chartwells and also in the concession stands at the Tri-City arena for games/concerts. After she retired, she enjoyed being a season ticket holder with her daughter and going to all the Tri-City Storm home hockey games. She loved to read, was on a bowling league/partners with her husband, enjoyed collecting Indian dolls, putting puzzles together with her husband, playing her casino games on her Ipad and spending all the time she could with her family and friends. Delila is survived by her husband, Jay of Kearney; daughter, Amber Hinrichsen of Kearney; sister, Karen Brecht of Kearney; brother, Ken Gewecke and his wife Kim of Kearney; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family and friends. Delila was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Linda Marzolf; brother, Rick Gewecke; brother in law, Alan Brecht; nephew, Matthew Brecht
