E. Jean Henke

E. Jean Henke, 89, Kearney, died Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Kearney Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church in Kearney with Pastor Stephen Price-Gibson officiating. Private family burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, November 3, 2017 at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. The family greet friends Friday from 5:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated later. E. Jean was born August 1, 1928 in Harlan County to Reinhold and Leathie (Pollard) Imm. She attended school at District #60, Stamford, and Orleans graduating with the class of 1945. Jean loved being outside taking care of her rabbits and ducks as a child. This love continued her whole life with her being a member of Nebraska Wild Life Federation, and having a NeWF windbreak planted for wildlife on her home place. Jean was united in marriage to Gilbert Coe in 1945. To this union three children were born, Michael, Daniel, and Kathleen. They were later divorced. Jean was married in 1966 to Gene Henke. Jean worked at the world’s largest Coop Creamery in Orleans. She also worked at the A.S.C. office, secretarial jobs, and her last job was at the Central Nebraska Presbytery Office. She later worked the welcome desk at Good Samaritan Hospital. Jean and Gene enjoyed traveling. They traveled to Spain and went on several cruises. Jean’s last trip with her friend Marsha was a cruise of the Hawaiian Islands. Jean was a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed being a choir member. Jean’s greatest joy in life was having her family all together for the holidays. Jean leaves to celebrate her life, sons, Michael and Karen Coe of Crete, NE, Daniel and Alice Coe of Lakewood, CO; daughter Kathleen and Steve Godeken of Republican City, NE; step-daughter, Barbara and Dean Holbein of San Clemente, CA; grandchildren, Stacy (Steven) Whitney, Shelly Coe, Tiffany (John) Lothrop, Danielle (Matt) Miscio, Travis (Jill) Coe, Jamie (Jessica) Coe, Cassandra (Travis) Holton, Robert (Amanda) Coe, Kimberly Godeken (John), Tamara Bishop, Brandi Smith, and Julie Smith; great grandchildren, Sarah Whitney, Stewart Whitney, Kyra Coe, Maddie Coe-Ahl, Jaedon Lothrop, MacKenzie Coe, Ryan Miscio, Makenna Coe-Ahl, Stephanie Whitney, Corbin Coe, Gabriel Coe, Alissa Coe, Broden Godeken, Kailyn Lothrop, Addy Coe, Cara Miscio, Gavin Coe, and Penelope Coe. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, and one brother.
