Elvera D. Rohrs

Elvera ?Jim? Holthus was born February 10, 1928; the fourth child of Dieitrich Christian Karl and Clara (Suhr) Holthus.She was baptized and confirmed in her faith at Bertrand?s St. Paul?s (German) Lutheran Church.Raised on a farm north of Bertrand during the Great Depression and World War II, Jim graduated from Bertrand High School and became a proud member of what is now referred to as ?The Greatest Generation?.Following graduation she married Charles E. ?Bud? Duff, an Army Air Corps Veteran.They made their home in Bertrand and raised three sons; Douglas, Dennis and Bradley.The family moved to Kearney in 1965 where Jim was employed at the First National Bank.In 1978, Jim married John B. ?Jack? Rohrs. Jim was preceded in death by her parents; Brother, Kenneth; Sister, Geraldine ?Jerry?; Brother in Law, Don Keiss; Brother in Law, Howard Muller; Former Husband, Charles Duff; Son, Dennis Duff; Husband, Jack Rohrs Survivors include her sons: Douglas (Kathy) Duff of Verona, Wisconsin and Bradley (Valerie) Duff of Summersville, South Carolina; sister, Delores ?Billie? Muller of Mesa, Arizona; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and Jack?s three daughters and their families: Brenda Anderson (Robert), Cynthia Morris (Robert), and Jennifer Korthuis (Steve) and their families of suburban Denver, Colorado. Jim enjoyed her family, traveling, playing bridge and socializing with a host of friends in and around Kearney and Mesa, Arizona.She always had a smile and seemed to know someone wherever she went. The families extends it?s sincere appreciation and thanks to all of Jim?s numerous friends; to Dr. Beth Ernst, the nurses and staff at Kearney Clinic, Good Samaritan Hospital, Northridge, Good Samaritan Home Care and Hospice and Mt. Carmel for their help and encouragement over the past several months. A celebration of ?Jim?s? life will be held at a date to be announced. Memorials may be sent to Good Samaritan Home Care and Hospice or to First Lutheran Church in Kearney.
