Evelyn E. Jones

Evelyn E. Jones, 89, of Amherst died Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Amherst, NE. Rev. Bill Heermann will officiate and burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, northwest of Amherst. There will be no visitation and the casket will be closed. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney are in charge of arrangements. She was born February 19, 1925 to Arnold and Ethel (Wolfe)Siebke at their farm N.W. of Amherst. She attended Immanuel Parochial School and graduated from Amherst High School in 1942. She then attended Kearney State Teachers College. Evelyn taught at Redwing Country School, Watertown, and Gibbon, all in Buffalo County. On October 12, 1947, she married Alvin R. Jones at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The couple farmed N.W. of Amherst. She returned to teaching in 1965 and taught at Liberty Hill District 80, Sunnyside District 45, and then at Amherst for one year. She retired in 1989. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and is currently a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Amherst. She enjoyed teaching, housekeeping, gardening, traveling, reading and loved spending time with her family. Surviving relatives include daughters, Lana Gosch and husband Dean of Amherst, NE, Kathleen Jones of Omaha, NE, Rosalyn Jones of Lincoln, NE, Laurie Wilkens and husband James of Omaha, NE, Anita Havlena and husbnd Lalit Jha of Lincoln, NE; sons, Chuck Jones, Jim Jones and wife Bambi and Bob Jones all of Amherst; grandchildren, Vance Jones and wife Erin of Riverdale, NE, Alex and Lia Havlena of Lincoln and Diego Wilkens of Omaha; sister, Helen Nelson of Kearney, NE; brother Robert Siebke and wife Alberta of Litchfield, NE She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993; grandson, Jarel Gosch; brother, Bill Siebke and sister, Lorraine Hadwiger.
