Francine Kay Bahm, age 74, of Kearney, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Society Grand Island Village in Grand Island. Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 15, 2023 at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney with Father Art Faesser as celebrant to honor her life. Memorials are suggested to St. James Catholic Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, organizations that held significant meaning for her. Their compassionate support during this difficult time is greatly appreciated. Francine was born on June 4, 1949, in Mason City, Iowa, to the late Erwin Braner and Norma McKee. Francine was a beloved wife, mother, and stepmother. Francine had a caring and compassionate nature, always putting her loved ones first. She had a special bond with her husband and children, cherishing their time together. In her younger years, Francine developed a passion for golf, honing her skills under the guidance of her golf pro father. She went on to win several tournaments, showcasing her talent and dedication to the sport. After inheriting the Sun movie theatre from her father, Francine and her husband operated it in Holdrege, Nebraska for 21 years. They brought joy to the community through the power of cinema. Francine's talent extended beyond the silver screen, as she had a knack for baking, particularly pies. Her delectable creations earned her multiple ribbons and prizes at the Buffalo County fair. Francine's educational journey included attending Holdrege Elementary and Holdrege High School. She furthered her studies at Kearney State College and Denver University. Throughout her life, she had a diverse career, working in advertising at NTV, serving as a technical service librarian at Kearney Public Library, and running her own bookkeeping business. For many years, Francine found solace and community at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney, Nebraska. It was a place where she could nurture her faith and connect with others who shared her beliefs. In her free time, Francine enjoyed indulging in her hobbies, which included golfing, watching movies, and baking. These activities brought her joy and allowed her to express her creativity. Francine Kay Bahm will be deeply missed by her husband, John Bahm; daughter, Alicia Tallon; daughter, Sierra Bahm; stepdaughter, Cresta Dunn; stepson, John JW Bahm; stepsisters, Gayle Schumann and Barb Conner; and a host of other family members and friends. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
