Ileene A. Wenzlick

Ileene A. Wenzlick, 93, of Kearney died Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Homestead Assisted Living in Kearney. Funeral services will be Monday, May 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Kearney. Rev. James DeLoach will officiate and burial will be at Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney or prior to services Monday at the church. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements. She was born June 1, 1921 in Mankato, KS to Albert and Hulda (Troudt) Stover. She graduated from A.O. Thomas High School in 1938. On August 11, 1940 she married Lawrence Wenzlick in Kearney. She and her husband farmed north of Kearney until moving to Kearney in 1966. Ileene was confirmed May 21, 1941 and became a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Kearney and also belonged to the Concordia Society. She was also a member of the Thorn-Div Extension Club, was a former 4-H Leader and served on the Buffalo County Election Board for many years. She loved to play cards, enjoyed gardening and especially loved to spend time with her family. Surviving relatives include daughters, Shirley Hazzard of Kearney, Phyllis Wells and husband Lee of Elm Creek; son Douglas Wenzlick and wife Joan of Imperial, NE; grandchildren, Brent Hazzard and wife Laura of Lincoln, Kent Hazzard and wife Randa of Omaha, Sheri Rumbeck and husband Brian of Amherst, Cindi Richter and husband Jeff of Kearney, Steven Wells and wife Jessica of Lincoln, Mandi Wilbur of Kearney, Craig Wenzlick and wife Angela of Frederick, CO, Alicia Scott and husband Daniel of Golden, CO, Nathan Wenzlick and wife Megan of Imperial, NE, 22 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Harmoney of Kearney and Marilyn Stover of Laramie, WY. She is preceded in death by her husband in 1994; sisters, Ardell Wick and Velma Atkins; brother, Albert Stover; son-in-law, Robert Hazzard; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy Wick, Forrest Atkins, Lester Harmoney, Melvin and Alice Wenzlick and Oren and Leola Hendrickson.
