Ivene M. Trew, 78, of Kearney, died Monday, January 4, 2010 at her residence.Funeral Services will be Friday, January 8, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services.Rev. Dean Pofahl will officiate.Burial will follow at the Kearney Cemetery.Visitation will be Thursday January 7, 2010 from 5:00 ? 7:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney.Memorials are suggested to Good Samaritan Hospice or The Kearney Library. Ivene was born July 22, 1931 in Lincoln, NE to John I. and Marie A. (Potthoff) Hampton. She spent the first years of her life in the Sandhills, and the family later moved to Deshler, NE.Ivene graduated from Deshler High School with the class of 1949.She married Alvin Trew on December 25, 1953 in Hyannis, NE.The couple moved to Kearney in 1963.Ivene received a bachelors degree from Kearney State College in 1968 and a Masters in 1974.She taught school for 18 years; first in the Sandhills, and Buffalo County Rural Schools and finally at Axtell for 10 years.She was also employed as a social worker after retiring from teaching school.Ivene particularly enjoyed reading, crosswords and other puzzles.She also enjoyed fishing and camping.Family was the most important thing in her life.
