James D."Jim" Royle, 73, of Pleasanton died Sunday, November 11, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pleasanton. Father Martin Egging will officiate and burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Pleasanton. Military rites at the grave will be provided by Pleasanton V.F.W. Leo and Clinton Krotz Post # 9481, Pleasanton American Legion Roy Eaton Post # 321 and Nebraska National Guard Military Honors Team. Visitation is planned Wednesday from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. with a vigil wake service to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pleasanton. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney are in charge of arrangements. He was born June 5, 1939 in Kearney to George and Agnes (Ball) Royle. He grew up in the Pleasanton/Amherst areas and graduated from Amherst High School in 1957. He then attended Nebraska State Teachers College where he played football. He is a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Army serving from 1961 – 1963. On September 24, 1966 he married Jane Pfeifer in Spalding, NE. The couple lived in Kearney and he worked various jobs then they moved to Pleasanton and he established Royle Irrigation which he owned and operated until selling in June of 2012. He liked being outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, trap shooting. Surviving relatives include daughters; Lynn and husband Matthew Davis of Colorado Springs, CO, Brenda and husband Shawn Yowell of Omaha, NE, grandchildren; Jarrod Davis of Colorado Springs, CO and Adam, Emily and Cody Yowell of Omaha, NE, brothers; Robert and wife Jo Royle of Pleasanton, NE, Ronald and wife Linda Royle of Pleasanton, NE, Danny Royle of Pleasanton, NE, Bryce and wife Lori Royle of Amherst, NE and sister; Marva and husband Henry Potts of Juniata, NE.
