LaDonna G. Ahrens, 78, of Kearney died Monday, January 22, 2018 at Mother Hull Home in Kearney. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 26, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney. Father Joe Hannappel will officiate and burial will be at Kearney Cemetery. Visitation is planned Thursday evening from 5:00 – 6:00 followed by a Christian Wake Service at 6:00 p.m. at the church. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney are in charge of arrangements. LaDonna was born May 19, 1939 in Kearney to Johnny and Bee (Johnson) Erpelding. She grew on a farm east of the Kearney Airbase and graduated from Kearney High School in 1956. On July 18, 1956 she married Lavern Ahrens in Kansas City, MO. She and her husband owned and operated Riverside Mobile Home Park until retiring in 1997. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Kearney, the American Legion Auxiliary and did volunteer work at Good Samaritan Hospital. She loved painting, stained glass and all kinds of crafts, gardening and small building projects. She loved the lake life going to Husker games and the family picnics she hosted for several years. Surviving relatives include daughters, Kimbra Roberts and husband Ronny and Kris Ahrens both of Kearney; son Kirk Ahrens and wife Rhonda of Summer Haven Lake; 12 grandchildren, Randy Roberts and wife Krissy, Kassy McDonald and husband Brock, Rhitney Roberts and wife Stevi, Casey, Colby and Cale Bowerman, Jimmy, Mike and Karlee Currin, Ashley Malmberg and husband Seth, Ann Teigland and husband John and Ariel Ahrens; 12 great grandchildren Kessyn and Kadisyn McDonald, Nika and Cruz Roberts, Finn Roberts, Weston Currin, Camden and Kyah Bowerman, Noah, Haley and Thomas Malmberg and Charlotte Ahrens; brother, Darryl Erpelding and wife Karen of Topeka, KS; brothers-in-law, Jerry Nellson of Gibbon and Roger Ahrens, of Kearney; sisters-in-law, Loretta Hadlock of Lees Summit, MO, Mae Truesdale of Sedalia, MO, Carolyn Ahrens of Lincoln, NE and Mary Ann Ahrens of Kearney . She was preceded in death by her husband, Lavern in 2000; parents, Johnny and Bee Erpelding and sister, Linda Nellson in 2017; brother-in-law, Orville Ahrens and in laws George and Elsie Ahrens.
