Leola M. Huff, 80, of Kearney died Monday, July 21, 2014 at the St. Luke’s Good Samaritan Society in Kearney. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fifty-Sixth Street Baptist Church in Kearney. Rev. Marvin Valdois will officiate and burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney are in charge of arrangements. Leola was born on September 22, 1933 in Holdrege, NE to Dewey F. and Jessie E. (Martin) Tupper. She attended school in Holdrege and later met Dale Huff at the skating rink there. They were married on January 13, 1951 in Jackson, Missouri. Throughout her life Leola worked a number of jobs which included the Plain’s Motel, Christian Homes, Dairy Queen, Mother Hull Home and St. John’s Good Samaritan Center. She was a member of 56th Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, camping, crocheting, archery and roller skating. She also enjoyed traveling to Branson. In her earlier years she was involved in the Cub Scouts and also the Blue Birds. Surviving relatives include her husband, Dale Huff of Kearney; Son, James and Becky Huff of Minden, NE; Daughters, Joyce and Gene Wissmann of Bertrand, NE, Ginger and Steve O’Brien of Kearney, NE, and Jean and Bryan Taylor of Grand Island, NE; Sister, Lucille and Bill Nolte of Holdrege, NE; Brother In Law, Earl Huff of Shawnee, OK; 15 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Granddaughter and several Nieces and Nephews. Leola was preceded in death by her Parents; Sisters, Evelyn Dodson, Lois Bradley and Bennie Huff; Brothers In Law, Clarence Johnson, Gunnar Nelson, Zeke Dodson and Eugene Huff; Nephew, Billy Nelson.
