Lynn K. Gardner, age 90, of Kearney, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at the CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Kearney. Father Paul Colling will celebrate. Burial with military honors will be at the Parkview Cemetery in Hastings, NE at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. Visitation will be on Monday, April 7, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney. Our hearts ache as we say goodbye to our cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather Lynn Kaye Gardner, who passed away on April 2, 2025. A man of immense warmth, kindness and humor, he always had a smile for everyone. He was a devoted husband of nearly 69 years to Marjorie Jane Gardner (Kimminau) and a loving father to Kim (Tom) Margheim, Bennett (Suzy) Gardner, Carolynn (Buss) Biehl, Dennis (Barb) Gardner, Paula Ulrich, and Keith Gardner. He was also a grandfather of fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Lynn grew up on the farm north of Smith Center, Kansas and attended Black Eagle Country School from 1940 to 1948 and Smith Center High School from 1948 to 1952. While waiting to be drafted, he went to Hastings, Nebraska and met Marge, the love of his life. They got married on May 21, 1956. Upon being drafted, he served in the Army from January 9, 1957 to January 8, 1959. He then worked for the City of Hastings in their engineering department until January of 1962. Lynn moved his growing family to Kearney, Nebraska and managed Kearney Crete & Block for 41 years. Lynn served as president of the Nebraska Masonry Association and was a lifetime member of the Lions Club. He also served as a lifetime member and past president of the Nebraska Concrete and Aggregates Association, the Knights of Columbus, and the Homebuilders Association. He also volunteered his time to serve as an American Legion Honor Guard, and security patrol for the State Patrol. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church and played an integral part in the design and construction of the current campus. Lynn enjoyed woodworking, gardening, videography, leather craft, and making Christmas gifts by hand for every family member. Grandchildren were the light of his life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
