Madeline E. Ryan

Madeline E. Ryan, 92, of Axtell, died Friday, May 3, 2013 at the Kearney County Health Services in Minden. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, May 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., at St. John’s Catholic Church in Minden with Fr. Nicholas Baker and Fr. Tom Ryan officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Axtell. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney with a 7:00 p.m. wake service in Kearney. The casket will be open one hour prior to the service time Monday at the church in Minden. Memorials are suggested to the family to designate later. Madeline was born December 22, 1920 in Kearney to Pete and Stella (Williamson) Ripp. She graduated from Riverdale High School and then went to Kearney Normal School. She moved to Oakland, California, where she worked in the ship yards as a welder during the war. She married Patrick Ryan on October 23, 1944 in Kearney. They farmed north of Axtell. Madeline also worked at J.C. Penny in Kearney as a clerk for 25 yrs. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Minden and the Altar Society. She enjoyed baking, dancing, and playing cards. Madeline was known for her great smile and friendliness. She was very compassionate and enjoyed visiting her relatives and friends. Surviving relatives include, sons; Patrick Jr. and his wife Adell Ryan of Axtell, NE, Michael Ryan and companion Karen Chiarbos Warner of Axtell, NE, daughters; Kathleen and her husband Scott Hartless of DeSoto, TX, Mary and her husband Mike Delka of Red Cloud, NE, Christine and her husband Ron Ruhter of Waco, TX, Son In Law Phil Bentz of Blue Hill, NE, Rita’s friend Terry Tole of Haysville, KS, Sister In Law, Mona Ripp of Kearney, NE, 19 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 daughters; Rita Fries, and Jeanne Bentz, and 1 brother Kenneth Ripp. PDF Printable Version
