Margaret E. Wood

Margaret E. Wood, age 91, of Kearney, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Mother Hull Home. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral Home with Chaplain Calvin Arnold officiating. Burial will follow at the Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, Wednesday, February 11th at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to AsceraCare Hospice. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements. Margaret Ellen (Snyder) Wood was born March 31, 1934, in Harlan County Nebraska to Ora Snyder and Ruby (Lunbery) Snyder. She married Raymond Gene Wood on December 16, 1950. They had 5 daughters, Cynthia Ann Dennis, Cheryl Jean Sinner, Patti Marjean Jones, Lora Lea Webb and Brenda Kay Lockler. She grew up in Holdrege Nebraska. When they first married, they moved around the country a lot. The family finally settled in Holdrege and lived there until 1970 when the family moved to Kearney Nebraska. Margaret was very dedicated to God throughout her life and instilled those beliefs in her family. She was a kind and compassionate woman and welcoming to anyone who came into her home. She was loved by everyone who met her. She worked at Baldwins in Kearney until she retired in 1998. Margaret had many hobbies throughout her life including sewing and crocheting. She sewed clothes for her family and taught these skills to her children and grandchildren. In her retirement she started making beautiful quilts for others. Margaret was famous for her delicious soft raisin cookies and made them for her children when they came to visit. She was very independent and taught her children to be self-reliant and strong women. She had a strong desire to share her love of traveling with her family and made sure they went on vacation every summer. They would go visit relatives all over the country. Margaret was known for her random breaking out in song when she would be triggered by something someone said. The main thing remembered by all was the wonderful memories, laughter and love in the house. Margaret is survived by her daughters Patti Jones (husband Bob), Lora Webb (husband Jim), Brenda Lockler, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Raymond Wood, daughters Cynthia Dennis and Cheryl Sinner.
