Mary K. Aupperle

Mary Kathleen Aupperle, 85, of Kearney, passed away peacefully April 5, 2026, at her home surrounded by loved ones. Services will be on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney. Burial will be at the Kearney Cemetery. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney are in charge of arrangements. Mary was born June 26,1940 in McCook, Nebraska to Glenn and Mary Darlene (Dodson) Peters. She spent her childhood in North Platte and attended North Platte Senior High. On January 10, 1958, she married Richard D. Aupperle. They were blessed with three children. The couple farmed in the Wellfleet and Maywood area until moving to North Platte in 1961. Mary worked at Sears Roebuck and later helped Richard build a successful plumbing business. In 1983, Mary started what would be a 38-year career with Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska. Mary was blessed with many friendships and was cherished by those who knew her. She was a constant source of support and encouragement to those in her life. Her thoughtful, kind nature embodied deep compassion for others and her strong faith. Her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched. Devoted to family, Mary loved being involved with her children’s and grandchildren’s interests and activities. She enjoyed baking and would regularly make sure family, friends or anyone who stopped in were well stocked with her amazing treats. An avid sports fan, she followed the Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Huskers. She would regularly connect with others by recapping the highlights of a spectacular win or analyzing an unfortunate loss. She was proceeded in death by her parents, brother George, and sister-in-law Mariruth Peters, brother James, and sister-in-law Martha Peters, and her former husband. Mary is survived by her children Rick Aupperle, John Aupperle, and Susan Huber (“favorite son-in-law” Ted), grandchildren Thad (Erica) Huber and Theo Huber, great-granddaughter Sloane, and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials are suggested to Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska or the charity of your choice.
