Michael W. “Mike” Albrecht, 62, of Kearney died on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver, CO. Funeral Services will be Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney. Rev. John Gosswein will officiate and burial will be later at Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and also 1 hour prior to services on Thursday all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the family. Mike went on a permanent fishing adventure on Friday, August 31, 2018. He was born on February 6, 1956 in Kearney, NE to Kenneth and Vaughn (Cherry) Albrecht. Mike attended Kearney High School and graduated with the class of 1974. He then married his high school sweetheart, Linda Decker on June 7, 1975. Together they had 5 children; Stacia, Paula, Karen, Amy and Kenneth. Mike was a proud Eagle Scout, an accomplishment he attained with Troop 134 in 1973. He enjoyed helping his grandchildren with Pine Wood Derby Cars and also building and flying RC model airplanes. Mike also enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing and boating with his family and friends. He will be remembered for the food he smoked for family and friends, his parties at the Albrecht’s house and his love of Nebraska Football. Mike owned and operated Nolte Plumbing/Heating/AC with his father until 2000 when he took over the business on his own. Surviving relatives include his wife, Linda Albrecht of Kearney; daughters, Stacia Zimmerman, Paula and Brad Kraft, Karen and Kasey Frye and Amy Albrecht and Fiance Pete Blumenthal all of Kearney; grandchildren, Brittany, Matthew, Jessica, Justin “JW” and Allyssa Zimmerman, Quincy Trent, Serenity Frye, Richard, Grace and Kamryn Kroll, John Kraft; Mother, Vaughn Albrecht of Kearney; sister Vicki Polhemus of Kearney; brother, Bruce and Lisa Albrecht of Kearney; Parents in law, Robert and Virginia Decker of Kearney. Mike was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Robert Albrecht; father, Kenneth William Albrecht; brother in law, Lee Polhemus; grandparents, Marcus and Lois Cherry, Robert and Elva Albrecht McLaughlin; nephew, Jessie Decker.
