Ronald Dee Schnacker

Ronald Dee Schnacker, age 79, of Sumner, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney. Jon MacDonald and Eric Sterling will officiate and burial will be at the Sumner Cemetery immediately following the services. A luncheon at the Sumner Community Center will follow the burial services. Visitation will be on Friday, October 11, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and also one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Sumner Rescue Unit. Ron was born on February 24, 1940 in Miller, NE to Clifford L. and May L. (Dickerson) Schnacker. He attended Miller and Sumner High Schools and graduated with the class of 1958. He married Gena Johnson on September 5, 1959 in Sumner. Ron and Gena began their married life in Omaha while Ron worked in the meat-packing industry. After ten years of building plants and training personnel in Omaha, Harlan, Cozad, and Lexington, Ron decided to pursue his love of farming. In 1969 Ron moved his family to the Sumner area and became an active member of the community, including serving as a member of the S-E-M School Board. Ron was a hard worker; his hands attest to the work of his life. Ron was a member of a non-denominational church and chose to serve the Lord as a youth, staying true to his profession throughout his life. His faithfulness was an inspiration to his family. Surviving relatives include his wife, Gena of Sumner; sons, Tracy Schnacker and his wife Kathy of Topeka, KS; Cris Schnacker and his wife Marta of Colorado Springs, CO; Perry Schnacker and his wife Janet of Shawnee, KS; Layne Schnacker and his wife Amy of Amherst, NE; daughter, Becky Rieken and her husband Paul of Dakota City, NE; brother, Gerald Schnacker of Alma, NE; sister-in-law, Donna Schnacker of San Antonio, TX; 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and brother Robert Schnacker
